Fuel tank is 60 litres = 13 Gallons (or thereabouts).

You should be able to get 25MPG with a stock 1600, so 13 gallons at 25MPG will get you roughly 325 miles.

I think they are meant to have a gallon left when the needle hits the R, so 300 miles from a tank wouldn't seem unreasonable. :)

Then take into account if your going a full tanks distance or more your most likely going away on a trip so dont forget to add the weight of all the camping gear and the wifes clothes.
Its dropping all the time..............

I know i'm not an early, but i'm lucky if i get 200 miles..... 2 litre fuel injected 3 speed auto doesn't help - plus a westy weighs a bit and me and the mrs like cake....... i get 15mpg - probably...... i just fill up and don't look at the dial.

And it makes a massive difference, to me any way whether those miles are done on the motorway or around town

shaun

Between 200 - 250 for me... depends on how heavy my foot is!

My bladder can't stand more than 100 miles in one go anyway, so I just stop at a garage and put some more in! I haven't dared look at the mpg

I did this recently got 92 miles from £40
£40 is roughly 30 litres, which in turn is 6.75 gallons
92 / 6.75 = 13 mpg

1st and last time I do this sum

I'll be doing a few miles in the next week, I'll work out my average when I get back :)

Christ, that is so depressing. I have no reason to think that mine is any better. I wish I had not read this...

ignorance is bliss guys...... if you worry about mpg scooby or golf diesel it...... remember it's 'smiles per gallon' and you'll be fine.

I reckon i am getting about the same. But mines my weekend toy so who cares :) plus i may even improvevhe weather over time

just worked mine out for trip to shakey towing drag beep and it came out at 23mpg---£20 for 76miles,town,country roads,hills(2 very steep!)dual track ,a good mix.

You'll never get good MPG on short runs or a round town it always seems the first gallon goes in no time.
But A roads & motorways, which is really all I do you should be hitting the mid 20's, :?
I get over this pulling a Folding camper (Trailer) loaded up & I'm running 100% stock the way VW intended.

What are people roughly getting from a tank full? Just so I know whether to trust my gauge or not!

Anton, when did you start worring about working gauges

i know that this weekend i averaged an amazing 8mpg  damn you heavy right foot.

i know mines not a standard engine (corvair six) but got about 20-21mpg on a 500 mile trip to norfolk and back, so looking at mpg figures people are quoteing im happy with that.
prob lot less around town,

if i was worryied about that then im going to have a heart attack driveing my dodge from coventry to newark this weekend as thats only 10mpg at best.

Don't want to sound smug but.......Brighton to Malvern cruising at 50 MPH mostly motorway........33 MPG. :D Bog standard 1600 single port.
