how many miles are you guys getting out of a tank? ours is doing about 150 and thats when it shows empty on the guage. am i right to trust it or do you think theres likely to be alot more fuel in the tank than the guage is showing? van was serviced in feb btw. anything i can do to improve or shal i just drive it til it runs out to get a clear indication?

This weekend I did 200 miles from full to just under half....though I've no idea if mine is accurate either :D

Fill the tank up and run it for a while till the gauge shows empty. Then fill it again, work out how many litres you have used for how many miles. Will give u a good idea how much is left in the tank.

i recon i can get 250 miles max to a tank its 1.6 with 34icts

dread to think what that works out in mpg

I get from se London to Plymouth on a tank with a 1641 engine stock carbs so would say you have something very wrong. When you guage shows empty how many litres of fuel can you put in

Im the same as you, went to Ninove at the weekend and put £175 worth of fuel in

I get around 180 miles to a tank, however when I fill up I can get a maximum of £48 of fuel?!

I was speaking to Pete B about this last night and im thinking that I still have fuel left as the tank should be around 60 liters I beleive :?

ive been told the same dude. 60l tank is correct but it cost me £42 to fill!! must be a fair bit left in. maybe its time to ignore the guage and carry a jerry can?!?

Think something must be wrong with the tank/guage. I filled up to nearly full on friday and drove to london from exeter with a big diversion along the 303 (didnt know that was coming) and had used half a tank. Id done 200 miles to my mates house with plenty of 60mph motorway stuff and 30 miles stop start through london.
Ive only got a stock 1600sp which in some ways is good but in others not (always at max chat).

I keep meaning to run the tank empty and see how much it holds but its alot of money in one chunk and you need to do it when you know you are going to use all the fuel at once to get a good result.

Ive done nearly 870 miles this weekend and put in £145 worth of juice and ive between half and a quater tank left.

The mileage might be out because my speedo is abit.

At todays prices its £40 from half to full?????

i think your correct, and i think matt maz has hit the nail on the head. if the tank was nearly empty then it would cost me about 70 quid to fill and not 42! gonna wait for next long run and drive til it runs out i recon :)

My vans booked in next week as it is running a little rich anyway and I will be asking the guys to check on the fuel situation and I will let you know the outcome :)

I was thinking about running it until it ran out of petrol but was concerned that it may suck up a load of crap from the bottom of the tank.....maybe i'm just being stupid though

that was my only concern. but it makes sense that i should have at least a third of a tank when guage is showing empty! why do we love these things so bloody much??????????

Who cares if you suck up a load of crap from the bottom of the tank....

it will tell you your internal filter is shagged and the inline should stop anything getting to the pump.....

the contents of the inline will give you a good idea of the state of your tank....

Jeez mate, we did the same journey as you, there were four of us in the bus, and I only put £150 in... And I still have half a tank left.

:?
I get about 200 miles on the same amount of fuel and also assumed that the tank is 60 litres but £48 is only about 42litres of fuel so must be anohter 3 gallon left somewhere
