Been wanting to bring this up for ages because I value the opinions of Earlybayers over those of the bar flies in my local, but I just didnt think it apropriate.
That was until the councillor mentioned it on another thread.

Now for years I believed, saw it with my own eyes as a kid but a few years ago I started to have doubts, now im starting to have doubts again
What do you think???

which one?

Have you ever noticed how the shadows on the soup dragon always pointed in different directions, definately a hoax.

I was having this debate the other day.
I do`nt believe any one has ever been there!
If they did , almost 40 years ago, then why has no one been back in all that time?
Technology has advanced a little since then ;)
It`s all a big hoax me thinks.

Would agree, when they say they originally landed the craft had the technology of a modern basic calculator, doesn't stack up in my book

ah but what can a modern basic calculator do? lots & lots of calculations.....
The germans could fly a rocket & hit London in WWII some 30 years before the moon landings.

The reason no-ones bothered since is cos its too expensive & theres nothing there

Despite the above I'm not necessarily saying they did it - I dont have access to enough facts to be able to tell me one way or the other - but I reckon that they had the technology to be able to do it then ;)

What they didnt have was the radio technology to be able to capture everything that "a man" - Neil Armstrong said as he stepped off the ladder ;)

The last landing was in Dec. '72 when it was confirmed there was **** all of value* up there.

*Oil.

There are reflectors placed on the surface by the Apollo missions that are still used today to take measurements,
anyone with the laser/telescope equipment can do this, and many do.

OK, final post on the subject.

Don't take my word for it, listen to what Bob the builder has to say about it -

But I don't think spiders like cheese.......................................what do you mean its not made of cheese

So Wallace & Grommit lied as well, my illusions have now been finally shattered

Usurping the councillor whatever next, he will get you back though, he always does just you wait, it may be an image or a well worded (if not rambling) reply but he will get you back

My intention was not to usurp the mighty one. He planted the seed to a subject I was thinking about myself, I mearly did the mundane setting up of the poll, heading etc in preparation for his wisdom, insite and mirth.

Do you think the worlds great leaders lay their own red carpet

Councillor, we await your words :p

Such a cliché - VW van drivers thinking the moon landings were a hoax.

(Is the poll broken? It is rising equally! We may as well toss a coin)

it's one of those subjects which every boy (sorry to appear sexist but things were different back then) born in the 'space age' must have an opinion about, but i reckon most people just file it in the back of their minds (yep, went to the moon, nice one) and then move on, and it's the 'moving on' i've never quite managed, in the way that me and mrs councillor are still actively seeking out new music, yet we can go round to our good friends' house for an evening, contemporaries of ours, and they'll put a spandau ballet CD on.

er, what are you doing ? ooh, bit of 'true' 'through the barricades' 'alive and kicking'

that was simple minds... aaargh, you've dragged us down to your level.

anyway, like a few who've already posted on the thread, my thoughts on the subject swing all over the place, like neil armstrong in the lunar landing trainer (nice link i thought 8) )

it was one of the greatest things in my young life... in fact i had an apollo t-shirt as a kid which i wore like every day until i got the first 'hitachi' shirt in, what '79 ?

it was probably my chemistry teacher in the first year of comp. that first sowed the seeds of a lunar conspiracy, although he was also big on recycling and the environment so you can't really knock him. he doubted it from a purely scientific point of view... now he'd been an adult and a teacher during the space race and we were just kids so it was kind of mind blowing hearing him going on about radiation belts and the like, but at the same time, scientific knowledge aside, how on earth could you keep something as massive as a lunar hoax a secret ? it just seems impossible to me.

i've got quite a few books on the subject, and, like the one i've got about anti-gravity propulsion, if you go into it with an open mind they're quite thought-provoking and an entertaining read, but i'm not sure anybody at 'our' level could ever be certain either way could they ?

but... they did go didn't they ? i mean i'd be so disappointed if they didn't :?

now then, rather disappointingly i've had to truncate that a wee bit, because i've got a project that's just cropped up that'll involve me working on a VW engine

imagine that 8)

*we will go to the racetrack*
