overnight hayfever has taken hold and left me with an allergic conjunctivitis so van plans were put on hold today.

my dad popped round with his "other child"
he changed the fuel filter which was clogged and causng me running issues and adjusted the carb as the van was running a little too rich on the old fuel.

got quite a bit done today, its nearly ready for van jamboree next weekend

its far from perfect - but when the closest Ive come to diy is flatpacked furniture, I think i Did ok. lots of niggly bits, but it will do its taken me an absolute age.

led lighting, uses less battery power, not to everyones taste but i like it.

couple of small things done, child bunk and a couple of stickers, and thats about it.

The van generated quite a bit of interest over the weekend at van jamboree mainly based around the sign writing, including a cheeky interview with bbc radio lincs. I overheard a few purists not overly impressed but hey you can't please everyone and the only person that needs pleasing is me and this little one:

its running like a sack of spuds at the minute - hopefully ill get it sorted before Deva.

I've had quite a few buses over the years - and have always used the garage of dad for anything that needs doing, whilst sitting taking a half arsed interest in whatever it was he was doing. He has been trying to get me proficient at spanner wielding level 'ninja class' but growing up I always thought it was utter pants getting grease and oil under my fingernails.

Im now nearly 30 and I am intent on making sure anything on my bus gets sorted by me pretty much. My knowledge is nothing short of crap - But the garage of dad now observes.

Thought I would go over the bus pre mot and iron out a few niggles.

Hazards had stopped working as had one headlight. undid it all to find nothing wrong with it. rolled the fuses and eureka !, Ive now cleaned the terminals and hazards and lights work 'normally'.

The other noticable issue were the cv boots. they were cream crackered. If ever I didn't want to get grease all over myself, tackling this 'basic' job was never going to help

they all pretty much looked like this

Now they are lovely and spangly and superfull of greasey goodness

would have been alot quicker if my dads bird would stop nicking all the bloody tools and running off with them !

It was MOT day today - Jerry initially failed with too much play in the steering

Luckily the bolt just needed tightening up - so straight back into the MOT station and passed

Im a happy lad, a friend wants to use him as a wedding vehicle !! still gets a lot of attention - but aside from all that, I enjoy the long drives out - sitting in secluded spaces and chilling out.

i may be acquiring a late bay crewie as a daily - negotiations are underway.

for a couple of months I've been pondering the next steps with my bus. It's almost at the point where I want to do nothing else.
I don't want to slam/narrow due to the roads around here more than anything else.

Upholstery. I want this done sooner rather than later - I'm awaiting a response from delilahs. Basically I want the front two seats re padded and upholstered in red basket weave. the rear 3 cushions done in red basketweave too.

Im always on instagram or wherever so I want a charging point for my phone, the cig lighter jobby is pants and charges my phone at 1% every 2 hours. SO im thinking aux battery with inverter with a standard single plug socket. Run the LED lights off that too.

finally - and im undecided on this at the minute - Getting an eberspacher /propex. Having been under the bus whilst it was up on a ramp recently - I could see properly and it is near on mint under there, I dont think I could bring myself to cut holes in it.

Mixed it up a little bit at the weekend and went to a cycling event - the wonderful wheeled weekend at wicksteed park,
a fair few dubs there ........I had to borrow a bike off the old man though!!!! The retro cycle scene seems to have really taken off !

Still waiting on quotes etc for van reupholstery - some saying theyve never heard of red basket weave vinyl :-/
I'll be going againtst the grain soon and changing my indicator lenses for amber ones, for two reasons. The clear ones are all cracked, and the nearside one is an offside lens upside down and doesn't fit too well.

Very kind words brother, it's not everyones bag, and its not professional or perfect, But i love it, I had some cracking comments over the weekend at WWW, better than some of the rude comments from Deva lol.
