I need a favour my son has just sold his t25 to join the world of earlybay :D
He lives in London and has seen one on preloved it's a 1970 Devon conversion apparently not had an mot for a couple of years and does need a bit of work
Here's a link to the advert
http://m.preloved.co.uk/m/showadvert/108240119/vw-1970-rhd-bay-devon-conversion-volkswagen-campervan.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It's based in barnoldswick in Lancashire so just wondering if anyone on here is close enough to have a look over it for him as I'm on the Wirral it's a bit far from me too
She's looking for £4000 Ono

Thanks dudes
Mark

Depending on his budget he might be better looking elsewhere. Guttering is gone on the sides and rear, back door does not open and needs a new engine hatch, no photos to show how bad it might be. The interior is not original, so only the pop-top is "Devon"..

I would have thought that at that price it would have gone already? I paid the same sorta money for one in a much much worse state! So either I am stupid or this could be a fake add?

(or both  )

Yeah I have told him to be careful
I also told him to hang on but you know what kids are like even if there 26

I'd advise him to get a solid import, then any money can be used on the cool stuff. Slammage

That's what I did when I was 18

He's Sean the hassle I've had since lowering mine I think it's put him off For now

Graham L @ midland early bay has a nice 71 deluxe for sale at £4400

^^^^ +2

May seem cheap but by the time you pay to collect/ship it, do the repairs etc you'd be better putting a couple more grand into buying a better van.

Hard I know, I hope he realises what he's letting himself in for going from his reliable T25 to an earlybay. Lol :)

We all know a more modern motor can b more relyable and a t25 is more likely to have less probs than an early bay. That's not to say your early bay is gonna fail every time u take it out. Mine hasn't failed on me yet. The biggest thing is to find a bus with as little rust as poss.
That add does have a hint of scam to it As it does seem a good deal. We came across loads of scams when looking for a early bay do b carful !

Welding and rust is a horrible virus IMO, granted I had a lot of mechanical problems with my bus and ended up rebuilding the mechanical & electrical side of my bus but some of the welding challenges various people have took on I admire: Sparkywig, Nick Rackham and Gadget Boy to name a few.

If he can get a tatty but solid import he will be more pleased in the long run. I looked at so many UK rot boxes and for a little bit more money I got a Californian import.

Thanks for all your comments dudes Ive passed on to him your thoughts and as everyone has said and if I had my time again I'd have got a dry import instead I'm watching mine rust away before my eyes

Lets hope he see's sense

Thanks again
Mark

I'll get him to offer her £2000 must be worth that

Yikes....WALK AWAY X2....Buy that and it will cost a small fortune to get right. Save some more money and buy an import IMHO.
I bought a rock solid Tin Top westie, needed mechanicals sorting for mot but that was it. A rolling resto is better than a full resto any day, at least you can have fun using it rather than it sitting in the garage.
Good luck with the search.

Thanks for all your advice dudes my son has now decided to leave the rot box save a bit more money and get something solid
He will be joining the site as soon as he gets one as he can't put any vehicle details in when registering.
