Newbie saying "hi"

First post and saying "hi".

New to looking at buses, but did own a 1972 (I think) 1302 Beetle sportamatic as my first car - way back in the day.

Have always admired VW buses / campers and finally considering biting the bullet and going for it. Not too sure that my better half is fully on board yet, but my son (11) seems game.

I just need to begin the hunt, reading up and establishing what I want, what I would like and what I can actually afford!

Mechanically challenged presently but willing to get scraped knuckles and oil under the finger nails.

I just need to get out of Afghanistan ( presently posted here until Feb 2015) and get the mid life crisis in full swing.

Don't be afraid to ask for help or advice - I wish I had found this forum before I bought my bus - it would have saved me a lot of expense and grief.

Chad, Trikky2 and Alex - many thanks for the warm wlecome.

I will be surfing these forums for inspiration and general guidance over the coming weeks. I already have an image in my head of what I would like - and I guess time will see what happens.
