I remember when I used to run one of these phpbb boards. For every genuine member you get like 10 of these. It really is a pain in the a$$.

phpbb has come along way with new registration processes to stop fakers with that little hard to read manual input code.

Ive swapped/upgraded a few phpbb boards over and no matter how sure you are and how many times youve tested it, you always still brick it when it comes to the live switch incase the database goes tits up

yes indeed the fight goes on ... checked out various phpbb add-ons that claim to reduce spam registrations but none that I know of are that effective - the hard-to-read codes even get bypassed quite easily ... in the meantime its down to hand-checking each one ..
