Hello folks,
Here is a big update concerning my bus since the last post, in fact, I've been busy during summer holidays putting together two cool engines for friends one turboed 2007 for a '64 beetle and another Street & Strip 2007 for the '71 orange Beetle. Road trips without internet connection also!
So go back to my bus, with its new 2074 engine, fired up in early january... looking pretty good in the engine bay:

Engine ran greater than I could expect so I made a new set of 36 vents for my carbs to reach the 7000RPM range...
After some polishing 8)
and being polishing parts, the rims followed!
Some new stacks were installed on the engine to improve the air flow
We're now in march, so it's time to go @ the Volksworld show with some friends, went back in France with a new garsburners wheels set, got ripped of the cookie cutters...
with some 195/65/15 rear tires & 175/50/15 front.
In order to make some passes at the Bug Show, I installed some good seat belts
My bus was almost ready for the summer!
I planned my first trip going from my brittany to Spa, making some runs out there and back to home...
Cool trip! Didn't had to play with tools, just to remove my belt!
3 cool vids!

Go back in France without any problem :msn4: and I decided to remove the engine to check the end play and others small things after this "break in" trip!
Just the clutch disc slipped at WOT so I ordered a good ACE copperhead unit!
:msn4:
Some new paint on the engine tins and go back in the bus for the second summer trip!
This time, I decided to go in the south of France,
@ --->
We took appart the front and rear beams made a new narrowed beam and adjustable rear spring plates...
All the job was done in 2 days, thanks Vintage Autohaus team! All ball joints, shocks, bearings .... have been changed!
Stef making my new narrowed beam
Can you see the new Vintage Autohaus dropped spindles?
here is the new stance of my bus!
The last mod I made is on my CB crossbar linkage, my hex bar was chewed by the ball ends screwed on the air filters bases...
I did the mod putting some small bearings, haven't tested it yet but I think it will be smooth and indestructible
I took my hex bar and drilled the original holes (don't know the diameter as it is as US measurement) of the aluminum pieces to 6.75mm to fit some bigger M8 screws to really tighten them on the hex bar.
I turned the M8 screws to have a conical end to turn them into pressing screws.
After that, I bored the hex bar to fit those small bearings
....and pressed them in with a small Bloc Press drop
After that, I turned the ball ends shafts to the bearings inside diameter
I think this would have worked great, but I decided to go on another route by making my own end pieces.
The last modification has been the air filter base that didn't allowed to put the M8 screw, so I milled the cast rib.
So now you know all about my bus, just waiting some bumpers overriders bought @ Slough last month!
Next update, next year :!:
