Do you have the stand for the OG oil filter? I've got a couple (one 1971 (minus the thermostat in the intake section) and a non-descript other year one) if that helps?

Re orange filter, no its not right matey, same as mine its full of rusty shite from in your fuel tank 
Pop another filter just below the tank as it will be better that letting all that shite get sucked through your fuel pump first

Hi all and thanks for replies.
Lard sorry to sound dumb but don't know what you mean. I've not done much to the engine in the 3 years I've had it except fit electronic ignition.
As far as I can remember it's always had a pancake filter fitted. One service though it was found that the filter had completely turned to mash through oil. So he just changed the filter.

no worries, if you look to the right of your engine bay does it have a flat stand sort of in line with the alternator (this fixes to the metal of the engine bay between the battery and engine(? As posted previously, a lot of buses have had twin carb installs which means you need to cut out the oil filter stand to fit them, mine had half of the stand removed but managed to balance the oil bath filter on it none the less,
Your previous photo's didn't show the right hand side of the engine bay to see if the stand is still in place, which would mean going back to a stock air filter setup (you get a rubber elbow the goes over the carb and across to the air filter)
Not got a shot of it but below you can see the two carbs either side of the engine - the one on the right wouldn't fit with the air filter stand in place:
This is the stock carb in the middle with the oil filter in place - crap angle I know but this sits on a stand that has to be removed to fit twin carbs:
If you have the stand then you can go back to a stock air filter - meaning that you won't get icing in your carb (as a stock air filter can take air from the engine block so pre-heated) and you also can attach the oil breather pipe into the air filter which will recycle any excess oil rather than dump it into your pancake filter
