Can anyone tell me what the difference is in the deep oil sumps that are available other than the volume and the price?

SCAT and EMPI seem to be the common ones, and there are some CB ones about too, what should I base my decision on? I'm looking for a 1.5 litre/quart size.

My reason is I am planning on driving through Italy & Greece in July/August and I'm concerned about running temps and hoping to reduce the frequency with which I will need to change oil.

CB require their own gaskets, not stock VW.

They just add more oil, that's it - no change to your cooling or service interval.

The main reason behind them is oil starvation issues on tight/hard cornering, they offer a liitle cooling (minimal) and generally extend your oil change interval by 1 - 1.5K if your after cooling for those hot summer long drives across continent go for an external plate cooler....

be warned the do drop the sump quite low so if your running a slammed bus your better going for the smaller option....

Also weld the extension pick up tube to the original one its not unknown for them to drop off....
