Changed my mind on my seating plan. Was going back to a full Microbus arrangement but;

I will retain my fronts seats but get a creative seat bed and a buddy seat, It will give a much cleaner look, be more practical and offer up some storage. I think the opinion on the C-E Seat Bed is good but not sure about the buddy seat. Anyone have one?

Cheers

Just fitted a seat bed, its a good bed but was a right pain fitting the thing! Instructions are shit regards fitting and got no help from C.E absolutely wern't interseted and said they'd call me back never heard a thing, that said it's solid now it's in thinking of getting the buddy seat too.

what did you need to do to get it to fit. does yours have boards or the mesh like mine, instuction where shite i agree

what size foams have you used on the seats and for the rear cusion??

cheers bud

Mine is the mesh type tottaly baffled as different to instructions and web site! I ended up using some steel tube from B+Q as a spacer between bed and wheel tub with washers on either end needed to get some longer M12 bolts too  . They really need to sort this out imo as they make out it bolts straight in and eveything they provide is all wrong! Also i didn't bolt it down with bolts provided as the holes sat dirctly over the cross member under the floor and couldn't see how i would be able to get nuts on?? just used some self drilling screws. Best to check with jownraw1 as he said t2d fitted his will prob be a better job than mine  still waiting for him to send me some pics of how they fitted his. Will try to get some pics of mine fitted, Cheers Seb.

So the instructions that they have on their website are different, are either of the instructions any use?

They mass produce this so I'd expect it to be a straight forward bolt in job, unless they have changed the spec to cut costs.

They quote boards on the site, so boards are what I'd expect. If this is the case CE really need to get their act together.

When I fitted my red9 wishbone setup I was expecting a couple of snags here and there due to the differences between LHD/RHD and (known) different sittings of brake pipes etc... However CE seats should be completely different and they should just bolt straight and come with comprehensive instructions.

Christ, there I go whinging again

The website and the supplied and downloadable instructions are wrong. It now comes with a steel mesh no boards. And they are aware of this error, as I was expecting what I saw on the site, and got the mesh

I have mailed C-E for confirmation of what I should receive. Don't want to lay out £500 then have to pop out to B&Q for extra items.

I thought C-E were supposed to be a reputable company!

So did I but not from my experiance :(

Sorry guys havent got any pics yet as the van is twenty mins drive away so will try and get some tomorrow night. I can only comment from my experience from fitting the seat and dealings with C.E, i'm not a massively technical person but like to think that stuff like this isn't beyond me. When i spoke to them i had some women on the end of the phone who wasn't really bothered and sounding like she had no knowledge of the product at all, they suggested using washers to build up a gap of more than an inch between the seat and wheel tub!! About 20 or more washers, Surely these would just work loose??
Slammedresto have you sized the seat up in the van yet? be interested to get some others opinion on the fit. Havent bought the foam yet but they suggest 3" on seat and 1" for the rear.

I emailed C-E yesterday and credit to them I received a response last night.

They have changed the design to improve the seat/bed. The MDF boards have been replaced by a mesh design as it should be far more comfortable. Also it should come with all the required bolts be it for a Bay or Split the design is the same.

What does factor into al this is your flooring, they recommend 16 - 18mm of flooring, so Seb if you do not have this this that could be the reason you required washers to build up the gap.

Think I'll just go for the seat/bed for now.

Des, i have the recomended 18mm of flooring, maybe just me but even on that depth of floor for the seat to convert to a bed the mounting point on mine was still over an inch away from the wheel tub and the bolts supplied to fix it here were only 30mm long so had to get longer ones, as i've said may just be me and could do with some pics of others who've fitted. Cheers Seb.

Can't fault mine, its fitted on 18mm flooring but it did need spacers fitted on the arches to let it work, but now it's fitted its well good. Got thicker foam than reccomended by creatice too. Have a look at my pics. T2D and there trimmer deserve all the credit for it.

Thanks for the pictures John, wonder ho many seats you'll sell for Creative just by your post :) Pictures are more effective than words, do you mind if I pinch a couple of your pics so I can show them to the guys at C-E?

Cheers
