I was looking through a couple of original curtains i have and theres a strange one that i have not seen before. It is approx 4ft long and 2ft high but the top is slightly arched. It doesnt look like a diy modified one but i have not seen one like this before. can anyone shed any light on this?

At first i thought it may be for the windscreen and clip together with a couple of seperate pieces that cover the cab door windows but every early bay i have seen with an OG curtain has a wrap around 1 piece curtain for the entire cab with holes in for the bunk poles.

Any help appreciated..

could be a partition to separate the cab from the rear in a non walkthrough?

ive never seen one like it either but looks like a flavour of westy plaid.

My '70 had a separate front curtain by the looks of it, as the cab doors have rails above and extra tie backs, Also i dont have the poppers on the B pillar to clip the usual wrap around curtain version. Ide be interested in it and any other pieces of OG material you may come accross.

Just

We have exactly the same curtain and it is for the windscreen.

Our 69 Westy came off the production line in late 68 and the cab door curtains run on a rail above each door. The curtain that you have fits to the windscreen with poppers and also connects to the cab door curtains with poppers.

Hope that helps

Thanks for the info.. Aren't forums brilliant!

It is what I suspected after all then, are all 68's like this.

i'd say it's the cab partition curtain, looks too short for a cab window and no cut out for the long stem mirror that touches the window on a 68.

There is no need for a cut out for the mirror. The poppers are either side of the mirror and the curtain sits in front of it cab side.

Just put mine in to ,ake sure and deffo windscreen curtain.

Hi Graham

All Bay Westies were like this up until August 69.

There is a company who advertise on the Samba who sell exact repro's of these and they list 68/69 as separate.

Mine is a '70 with this configuration, off the production line in March.....

You learn something new every day.. These curtains are so rarely seen in buses that even after having hundreds of bays i cant say i have ever had a front curtain like this one.

I have a bit of a ratty cab curtain on ebay now at:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270517641330&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Seems i may have listed it incorrectly in light of the info in this thread..

I wonder if this went up to August 70 then, that would seem to make sense and tie it in with the buddy seat and wide 5 change?
