Hi all,

I'm finding it hard to even get a quote from some insurance companies. :? Owned my van for just over a year and have been with Sureterm but fed up with their quite frankly awful customer service.

My van is a '71 panel.

Modifications:
Lowered 4" up front on adjusters, 1 spline drop at rear.
Engine: 1600tp, twin dell 36's, 123 electronic dissy, Stainless exhaust.
Interior; full width rock and roll bench seat, insulated and paneled out back.

I'm a 28 year old carpenter and it seams they either don't like the fact it's a panel, or can't get their heads around the fact it's a mint van that I don't use for work! At least with Sureterm I could get private insurance, ie not commercial, with a limited mileage and no questions asked!

Any advice or recommendations on who to check out would be massively appreciated.

Cheers!

I agree sureterms customer service is pretty poor, our renewal comes up in a couple of weeks, we only went with them last year as they were the only company we could find that would give us more than 1 week to get a California import upto uk spec and registered.

They've just bumped our insurance up by £50 and had the cheek to say it was cheaper than last years quote when we said we would shop around because the chaps pc showed it was £300 plus even though we had last years policy infront of us showing we paid £212 last time. The search goes on.

Try RH Specialist I've been with them a few years now and pay around £100 fully comp, just renewed the Beetle with them £68 fully comp

Try cherished Vehicle insurance up there ^^^^^^ dont forget to quote earlybay for a discount!

Thanks guys. Some very tasty quotes you've had there. Will be checking them out over the weekend.

Any more recommendations? Any views on HIC? I see they do a 'classic van' specific insurance. Guessing they are dear tho

Cheers, Pete

We were with HIC the year before via just kampers for our T25, we didn't have any problems. They would of been cheaper for us than Sureterm for the Bay but would only give us 1 week to get our van upto uk spec, mot'd and registered which was impossible due to sourcing bits to finish it off, we will certainly be getting a quote from them soon.

Good shout Easy! Saved myself over £100 over my last insurance. Very friendly people to deal with (Cheers Mark @ Cherished).

Thanks everyone for their input. I'm loving EarlyBay!
