I do like the idea of making an old van look retro but this actually does look old and does not inspire me to continue loving the original VW camper!

In my opinion if you are going to go for the retro look it still needs to be a modern take on an old style not just an old van with no character.

I will look forward to seeing the finished article!

People have spent hours on their vans/pride and joy getting them roadworthy and making them look cool whether it be with original paint or with a full restoration, if this doesn't inspire you to love the original VW camper then id say your not an enthusiast really, also you obviously haven't realised this is a commercial that's been converted to a camper!

And to say this bus has no character is ridiculous....

Hi VWgeek. I would love to see some pictures of the Earlybay you have built.

I don't understand your comment "I do like the idea of making an old van look retro but this actually does look old"

1st: It is old.
2nd: Retro is a culturally outdated or aged style, trend, mode, or fashion, from the overall post-modern past, that has since that time become functionally or superficially the norm once again. The use of "retro" style iconography and imagery interjected into post-modern art, advertising, mass media, etc. It generally implies a vintage of at least fifteen or twenty years. For example, clothing from the 1970s, 1980s or 1990s could be retro.

It's a matter of taste, and that's where the debate starts. There is nothing wrong in criticising something providing you can explain why you like or dislike the object of your disapproval. Take as an example tattoos, I personally dislike them for a load of cultural, socials and aesthetic reasons, which I feel I can explain without insulting or humiliating people who have tattoos. That's not to say a person with tattoos will not be offended, but being offended does not mean the other party is right either.

On a more simple level who the feck cares if someone says something unkind about a bus anyway? It's just an opinion. Surely it's a bit adolescent to be worried about what others think?

I like the bus and think it looks super cool.
