Hi all - Family want to head to West Wales this summer. Would welcome any recommendations for sites near the coast.

Many thanks in advance

Depends what you are looking for.

For direct access to the spectacular coastal path and a small beach, and an easy 15 minute walk in to St.Davids, then Caerfai Bay ticks all the boxes.

We visited in April so it was very quiet, and it'll be busy in summer, but the facilities are very good (some of the best I have seen) and the staff are friendly. No camp fires though, only off-the-ground BBQs.

Oddly, whilst there was torrential rain just down the road, St.Davids seemed to have its own weather system and stayed pretty dry :D .

Many thanks. In essence want to avoid the statics and club house sites - just not our cup of tea.

Windmill Farm at Dale is a superb cliff top site, very simple and friendly...

Foxdale nearby is also a good little site but with slightly better amenities if you need them...

cheers
Rob

Newgale is simple but very nice. Across the road you are onto a long pebbly beach. You can light fires on the beach.

A few years back we stayed on a nice little campsite behind a pub in the centre of St. Davids. Can't remember where it was exactly now but it was on the left before you hit the main town if you were coming in on the road from the south. Maybe someone knows it?
