i was planning to run him as is but decided to repaint etc and convert to camper so i will update thread as i go .up to now ive stripped out interior and cleaned up the underneath and as soon as it gets a bit warmer plan to respray the underside ive no garage so at the mercy of the weather but he is basically sound and needs no welding so half the battle .

few pics of the underside being stripped of old underseal took me 4 weekends with a scraper but at least i know im not painting over rot hidden by underseal

You bus looks very solid vwaddict! 8) On one hand a shame that you are going to repaint it, but on the other hand it's probably best for your bus.

that's a lot of scraping!

sweet looking bus

i repainted my cali deluxe when I brought it into the uk - still not sure i did the right thing, but hey ho, it does look like it's driven out of an original catalogue : D

i know when i bought him i planned to keep the paint but i worried about it getting worse especially when you look at a few of the british buses currently being welded on here so i thought preservation was best

having doubts whether to respray now or not .maybe just replace all the leaky rubbers and touch in bits just now and see how it turns out .what do you guys think whats the best way of protecting the body from getting worse

You could try Ankor Wax

Patina Preservation at its best! So say the Bus Barn

Keeps the damp UK climate away from your faded paint - helps keep rust at bay and moisture out

£20 for 5 Litres

Good luck!

cheers have read a few threads previously talking about anchor wax might give it a go
