Evening all, can I have some opinions on which model propex to go for and where would be the best place to buy it from? :D

Propex leisure is a good site that's where I intend purchasing mine from, when funds allow. I'm going to go for the external mounted model HS2211. The other method is a multi buy that seems to the only way to get a bit of money off, or purchase at a show. Good luck with your choice bud.

We've got a dual one that runs on gas when you've not got a hook up but switches to electric if there's a hook up available. Only really useful if you're camping but we've found it great.

If you don't have the funds for a brand new one, then they do frequently appear on the world's leading e-commerce web site. They usually go for around the £250 mark and tend to be the earlier X1, compact and X3 models but they are pretty bomb proof.

Propex themselves are very helpful regarding the older models too and have some spare parts and accessories for them on their website as well as the install and user manuals.

The X1 models are rated at 1600w were branded as hotbox and generally sold to BT for installation in their engineers vehicles. So as these vehicles are upgraded they often come on to the second hand market. They had a 1hr on 1 hr off timer, which is easily upgradable to the standard thermostat (available from Propex). The X2 is also known as the compact is also rated at 1600w and has a smaller case and slightly different inlet outlet pipe config.

Occasionally the X3 will popup which is a whopping 2600w it is bigger and obviously more powerful but essentially the same model as the X1 just with a larger heat exchanger and fan etc.

Can't say I have much experience with the Eberspacher heaters but the B4 is the petrol one.

Good luck with whatever you go with.

Regards
Pete

Hi, just poking my nose in - just wondering why most people go for the propex rather than the petrol option?

For me, the reason was that gas is cheaper than petrol.

Yes you can use the Propex heater when driving and I use it when there is no electric also
cheaper and easier to handle, the bottle also supplies my cooker .HS2211 slung under bus.

Hi gas1man

That's the one I am looking to purchase may I ask where you purchased it from please ?

Thanks

Simon

Was lucky enough to catch a thread on this forum that was doing a group buy.
They do come along every now and then. Someone has done one in the last 6
month's or so. If not soon enough then go direct to the Propex website.
There are other ways to buy of course.
