Hey

Just wanted some advice about fitting a 'Volkswagen' badge to the rear tailgate of my 71 Westy. the badge i have has 4 or five pins on the back. Am i right in thinking I'll have to drill some holes that correspond with the pins as there aren't any there currently? Didn't know whether people just cut the pins off and stuck the badge straight to the tailgate?

Also, whether i use the pins or not, what kind of adhesive would be best to stick it on?

I'm new here and renovating my van after 3 years of owning it, so a little bit at a time!

thanks
Lewis

Hey Lewis, it’s best to use the pins then there is an annular ring that fits on the reverse side, it’s like a small washer with tangs or barbs in the middle that grip the pin. Saying that, I have other badges of similar proportions that are stuck on with “sticks like ****” but a lot of peeps advocate double sided badge adhesive foam tape that you stick on the badge then trim off the excess then plonk it on the bus. The upside is no drilling and you can remove with fishing line, downside is if it comes adrift then it’s ta ta badgy boy. I tried various adhesives that failed because of banging the tailgate at times, luckily it fell off virtually in my hand each time, but I hadn’t heard of this ^^^ tape until recently,

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,, others swear by it.
