Had 2 quotes for my van as I need insurance ASAP, both very similar prices. My other car is insured with Adrian Flux and I've had no problems with them. I've also heard very good things about Cherished Vehicles. The cover from Adrian flux covers for up to 3000 miles with an excess of £150, the Cherished Vehicles one covers for up to 2000 miles with an excess of £200. I know that the cover from Adrian Flux covers contents, awning, audio etc, but not sure of the exact details of the Cherished Vehicles one.

Who are you with, any good / bad reviews?

I'm with Cherished again this year, can't say a bad thing about them, but I've not had to claim ;)

There were threads on here about issues with flux, have a search.

Saying that,I've been with them for years and have had no issues,I've never had to claim though!

I highly recommend the euro breakdown cover for £36 per year, that got me a weekend hire car,a car home, ferries reimbursed and my van recovered home from le mans.

Steve.

I'm with Cherished, top notch so far.
I was with Flux, had to claim through a non fault accident & flux my own insurers tried to bum me over,
I would highly reccomend against Flux.

ive used both, when i cancelled my insurance early with flux i got jack **** back, they said admin fees took the lot.

just cancelled mine with cherished and they refunded £40

ive also heard bad things about flux's claims dept but also have never had to claim from either

last time i was on the phone to cherished i had a convo with the chap about what shows i was going to and about what vw he drove. the fact he knew his sh*t sold me

Have used Flux a lot over the years (one of the few insurers who will touch my beetle due to the heavy mods and a roll cage, apparently one or the other is fine but both  ) and would just warn to be prepared for the paperwork, lots and lots of paperwork. :msn4:

Flux make the rules up as they go along, in the main to suit themselves.
I'm getting bitter here  but I hate them with a passion

Cherished for me - firstly as they support the forum, secondly because their agreed valuation process was much easier (based on photo's and submitted value rather than independent inspection first which Flux insisted on) - and finally...I got a free T-Shirt and I'm a sucker for freebies 8)

Not been with Cherished so cannot comment on them, but as sponsors of the forum they deserve a consideration IMO.

Flux were fine for me last year; agreed valuation was effortless and done on photos, and they paid out following an 'at fault' shunt when driving a third party car, so can't complain. But went with Heritage this time around as Flux's quote went through the roof. Wonder why? :D

I have a direct line to the man in charge of the camper insurance at cherished so i have to recommend them. I have all 3 dubs insured with them again this year. The benefit with them is you can also contact them discretely via the forum if you have any issues.
I will of course recommend cherished as they continue to remain main sponsors of the site and help keep the forum alive but also on a personal level all my dealings have been pleasant and straight forward.

Yep, same here. The whole process was easy, especially the agreed valuation, and i too am a sucker for freebies :D

Indeed, I've not had a problem with them either.

My renewal is coming up, and I'd like to add commuting to my insurance policy, for those days where I feel like taking the camper to work. Cherished say they can't add this to my insurance cover, has anyone else had this problem?

I've had quotes from other insurers which do include cover for commuting, which doesn't seem to add much to the price. But I'd rather continue supporting my existing insurer (Cherished) given that they sponsor the forum. :)

Cherished for me the second year running. not had a claim but no issues so far (email is a bit fickle, but thats all)

I cant use either over here but from what I have heard over the years the answer is...

I would always prefer to be cherished rather than fluxed over

cherished wouldn't let me use my bus for getting to work - and that is not ever or occasionally. Also I have access to another car but not my own additional vehicle so they were not happy about that either.

So I had to go somewhere else - with no agreed value  as I don't have a garage....

i was goin to ring cherished but if they want you to have another car with agreed value i don t think ill be makin the call gutted you all seem to reccomend them , :(

still call them - it might be my postcode - He said he could 'get it through' but they really don't like you not to have a sole use car in addition and the fact I could never use it to drive to work seemed bonkers...even when I said 'so I want to goto big bang say straight after work...you're saying that technically I'm not insured if I drive to work and leave from work and travel straight there....yes that is right'

I only use my bus occasionally for work but I was hoping to make it at least once a week, not with cherished, which is a shame as they do agreed value on the drive as opposed to needing a garage...

I tried cherished and as my van is LHD they wont touch me until I have driven it for 12 months so if you have a lefty you may need to look elsewhere.

J.

If you have driven a lefthand drive before then its not a problem ie your mates van etc.
