just bought a 1641 with engle 100 cam. the probvlem i have is that it sounds like a maraca... ajusted the tappet and even changed the rockers and push rods to see if it disapers, but no joy.. it sounds like the tappets are really lose.. been at it since half 6 this morning. any one have any ideas??

Well the engle W cams are noisy anyway because of the steep sides and pointed top in combination with high lift.
Are you running chromoly pusch rods?, you can adjust these to 0.05mm.
When you are running alu rods try to set them at 0.10mm instead of 0.15mm.

thank u i will try that tomorrow
:?

Standard rockers with still rods? was thinking about putting standard alu one back in to see what happens.

Steel push rods don't extend the same as the engine, alu tubes will extend the same as the engine and therefore they run more quiet!

ok .. i put the steel rods in ajusted to 0.05mm it was nice and quite.. untill it wormed up. was wondering if i should invest in some up rated valve springs?

Got a w100 in my 1700 stroker engine (74mm crank) with cromoly pushrods set with standard valve clearances - I dont recall it being particularly noisy?

i have standard rockers with the swivel ball ajuster thingys but standard springs? do u think this could be causing the rattle?

I'm no engine guru but I wouldnt have thought so the W100 is a pretty mild cam, are the rockers all adjusted correctly - no loose/broken clips missing shims, correctly torqued etc.

yes mate all is good there they are brand new rockers and rods.... i tightened the gap to that 0.05 and it quitened them down for about 2 min untill things got worm then back to square one?? im totally con fused.. the only thing i can think of is the valve springs?

Put in the alu rods in unless you have very heavy duty valve springs.
The steel rods are crap anyway (i used a set of empi and i kept adjusting the valves, because the material of the balls at the end of the rods where to soft), CSP got heavy duty alu rods that would be my choice if you need them!
But for a normal engine with standard springs the standard alu rods are the best choice because they get the same lenght as the engine when it warms up.

thanks for all ur help guys but desided to give it back to the fella i brought it of and get my money back.. gonna build one from scratch.. that way i know what the spec is and know its all good..

so if u know anyone with a nice set of kads or dells for a 1641 please let me know.. cheers
