as above, iv fitted new shoes and clips etc, retained the hand brake cables, adjusted the shoes out to the drum, then went to adjust the hand brake and i cant get it to lock the wheels firm,

its probably the most simple task but im struggling

brake pedal feels good under foot just i cant get the hand brake to lock

what am i not doing or doing wrong for that matter :!:

Have you slakened off the handbrake cables at the front?

I had a similar problem on my '72 and the cause was wear in the slots of the bar that reaches between the two shoes. Unfortunately they're unavailable for pre '73 vans so I had to biuld them up with weld & then file them to shape.

I think im all sorted now, thanks for the reply.

i hadnt slackened them but have now

how far should the handbrake come out before it locks the rear wheels (fully on)?
