My offside rear drum keeps sticking on...

No matter what position I have the adjusters in if I brake heavily the pistons come out jamming the shoe on and they won't go back in unless I leave the van for an hour or so to cool down.

Tried new piston, new springs, not using the handbrake at all etc.

Any tips?

Might be the brake flexi hose, they can fail internally and stop the fluid going back, this would cause the brakes to stick on? When were they last changed?

Cheers

Alistair

Will check that thanks, flexi hoses are new I think coz the dealer I bought it off was supposed to renew everything...

check that there is the required 2mm gap between the end of the plunger and the piston in the master cylinder ..

You should feel a little play in it before it starts to activate the piston.

I had one too tight once and it gradually makes the rear shoes work out and lock up ..

worth a look for a 2 minute check :)

Yes check flexi hose. I had the same problem and it turned out it had collapsed internally, letting the fluod through but not return.

And just because something is new does not mean it can't be faulty. I replaced all of my rear brake components a year ago, and this year the bus failed on a weeping slave cylinder - one of the new ones
