Hi,

i`ve lowered the back of the bay using some stepped adjustable spring plates, but on first test drie, i can hear it knocking.

On closer inspection, i can the bottom 'cup' that normally contacts the bump stop is hitting the chassis above (which houses the bump stop normally).

I turned it one spline, then its stepped and then dropped a little. You can see how it sits with no weight on it here.

I`ve circled the red bits which are contacting each other.

The driveshaft isn`t hitting the chassis and i`m currently using stock shocks - i actually thought it was the shocks bottoming out before i had a closer look.

Do people normally cut those bits off so they don`t foul each other or something else? I have to admit, its not completely slammed - i thought the driveshafts would hit the chassis first!

PIcs -

Are you using a cut down bumpstop in the gap between the two pieces that are contacting each other?

Hi - No - i have nothing at all as i removed the bump stop altogether to give my self extra clearance. Is it normal to remove them or leave them in and cut them down?

I guess if they were left in, then i would just be bottoming out on the bump stop all the time though?

Yep think most people either remove them completely and cut off the bump stop mounts/holders to give clearance or just cut down the rubbers to fit in the new smaller gap to stop metal on metal action as your are experiencing.
Might be an easy a cheap solution to try cut down rubbers before tacking the metal work?

Im running these on my rear as the normal type were too long to fit in the "modified" arrangement I have back there

Thanks - I'll have a proper look- but reckon I'll end up cutting the mount bits off to gain the clearance I need.

you don't need to cut them off, you can just clearance that area with a flap disc. Always do the minimum as if you want to return to stock you can.

what shocks? stiffer ones will probably stop the bang.

Stock shocks at the mo.

Haven't touched it yet - just raised it a little - yes may try and clearance it with flap disc
