I got some CSP ones. My engine builder said they were among the best. They are about £80, come in matt black, orange or chrome.

This.

Stop trying to buy cheap shiny tat - as you've already found, it's not as good as the real deal. Your engine won't run any better with shiny rocker covers.

Apologies for being blunt. :)

VolksWorld did a test a few years ago and this was the outcome, tho bling up some OG ones if you want something fancy I say.

I agree with the others.

I bought some new rocker covers a couple of years back when I built a new engine.

They kept leaking and I removed them and fettled them at least five times. On the fifth attempt the left side finally stopped leaking but the right side was still bad.

I finally gave up and got some old ones re painted and had no further problems.

The new ones were not pressed correctly and hence did not seat flat on the heads.

You can check by holding them against the head with no gasket and try rocking them. If they move they are not flat and will not press evenly on the seal, hence the seepage.

The key with stock covers is to apply a light coating of bearing grease on the gaskets then once in place gently tap the bottom of the cover with a mallet & you'll see them seat correctly.

:D

I've got a set of scat covers online, I did grease the cork gasket and used my camping mallet to tap em home.....18 months on no worries or leaks ;)

Shinny rockers are well shinny !! Other than that there useless

1.Get some og ones

2. Get some decent gaskets ... The cork gaskets should be pliable if not your fighting a losing battle ... I refuse to buy gaskets unless there pliable as they are supposed to compress

At shows have a feel of them ' often you will think new gaskets great but there not new and have hardened up over the years so will leak ... I have a wander around the stalls find the best ones and buy a 3 or 4 pairs to see me through the year there only a £1 a pair but get the soft ones !!

I use no grease or sealant and have no leaks ;)
