Has anyone got any tips or experience removing the white plastic needle from a speedo? I've tried before unsuccessfully, it broke very easily :( . I'm trying to replace the missing one on my 68 speedo with one from a 72 ( very kindly donated by Earlybay good guy Harlequin ).

when i did mine i gripped the large silver disk just inside the main housing
above the cable connection.
(this moves with the needle) so then you hold the needle firm.
then i just very very gently twisted the needle off. got to admit after doing this twice
now had one complete success and one partial failure (small crack in the needle
which i glued)

Well, I found a way to do it :D . Carefully cut away at one of the lugs on the back of the needle with a modelling knife and then very careful leverage from below the needle. It came of in one piece with no cracks and is now firmly attached to my 68 only speedo.
