How do i go about removing the front VW badge from my van? I cant get it to shift but want to change it as its gone abit gross. It feels like im going to rip the front panel off before the bloody thing will move! Please forgive the stupidity of this question :msn4:

Are they?

On my 70, there are 4 plugs which push into the 4 holes on the front panel, the original badge has 4 pips in each corner (yes i know it's a round badge...) these pips have very small notches on them, these then push securing into the plastic clips you fitted earlier, and hold the badge in. Mine is a OG badge, and clips, and is in very tight, I want to remove it to repaint it, but as you know, it is on very tight!

Here are the correct earlybay clips:

http://www.vwheritage.com/vw_spares_Badge-clip-T2-front-68-71-set-of-4-211853615_act_shop.product_pID_161316.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Here are late bay clips:

http://www.justkampers.com/211-853-619-front-badge-clip-3-pack-vw-t2-bay-1973-1979.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

AFAIK they aren't held on behind the front panel?

They were on my last van. Was a round clip that pushed onto the prongs. Right bugger to get off. Think they were put on to stop the badge getting nicked. You needed to be double jointed to get them off. Guessed as the poster was having problems that his might be the same. Just a thought.

4 plugs on mine.

Cheers guys. Finally got it off (it was just 4 plugs) but the clips i have with my new badge are too big to fit! :evil: i'll follow that link above :)

Still on this topic...

Ive now tried to fit my new front badge. It came with the below clips which i was told fit straight into the holes in the bodywork, but they don't as they're too wide :? The holes in the bodywork seem original and the badge i took out fitted perfectly....

http://www.customandcommercial.com/vw-baywindow/deluxe_trim_parts--and--accessories/front_badge_parts/german_quality_front_badge_clip_4_needed_8fslash72-12fslash72_4484/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Would i would also need the below clips to fit these to? Or are these for something different?

Bottom link correct AFAIK for a pre 72 bus, same fixings as my 70, the top link i guess is late bay.

Assuming you have a earlybay badge not a late one. What diameter is it? Have you had the front panel changed?

I have just replaced my 10'' badge on my '70 westy. I took off the existing badge which had been stuck on to the white clips with the hole in (labelled as 68-7/72 in your link on the C&C site) with double sided tape.

Looking at the old badge which is chromed plastic, I couldn't see how it was meant to fit correctly on these badge clips as there are no spikes to push in to the holes in the clips. When I got my new badge, a white one from JK, the clips that came with it were similar and the same method of fitting as the old ones. Part number J11169.

The new badge was identical to the old badge apart from the colour. There are four bars on the back of the badge at about the 2, 4, 8 and 10 o'clock positions, and no way of fitting to these clips! So I range JK and they sent me 4 of the 'so-called' late clips J10096, as these have the correct slot to attach to the badge and then push fit into the bus front panel. The badge is on and doesn't feel loose at all.

That's my experience other badges' fitting may vary :lol:
