hi all I'm having trouble with the rocker covers leaking oil if I put new seals in there good for about 100 miles or so then the oil starts to leak is it something I'm doing wrong or is there a better way to seal them thanks

Theres really only 3 things that could cause it to leak; mating surfaces aren't clean, mating surfaces aren't flat, or the bail clips aren't clamping with enough force. I suppose you could also include the gasket being pushed out of alignment when fitting it up, but I'm presuming that is ok!

Worth checking to see if the rocker covers are original or recent after market ones.
Have had problems with new ones not sealing because the mating surface is not flat. Solved by sourcing some original ones.

thanks all the springs are tight and yes they are aftermarket covers
will see if I can source some og ones
is it ok to put 2 gaskets in or can thus cause more problems

Don't use 2 gaskets, but maybe a thin sealant between gasket and rocker cover. Also a thin smear of grease between gasket and head.

As before, genuine covers and clips are vital.

after blowing the seal twice and dumping all the oil out, I replaced mine with bolt on ones, never had a leak since!

Agree with all of that and the repop stuff too. Another tiny little thing is some of the gaskets you can buy are very poor quality and the good silicone ones are a lot more expensive but that`s where I`m headed. On another motor, I had some bolt on ones and they were ace with no drippy droppies at all. Might go the whole hog and do both,,, bolt ons and silly gaskets ;)

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Won`t hurt will it

Same as Ozzy - had a drippy cover that sealed for a time but eventually started to leak again!
So I threw some (more) money at it and am now rolling with CSP Bolt on covers and silicon gaskets - with absolutely no leaks

where can I get these bolt on covers please and are they like it sounds you just bolt them on or will I need to drill and tap a thread

just kampers do the bolt on ones £25 for the pair are these ok as the other ones @£99 say a 1700 upwards and mine is a 1600 tp thanks yet again

Mines a 1600cc TP with Twin 34ICT's and these fit perfectly
