rough running

This started recently,a lot worse when pulling uphill.Ive checked for air leaks on inlet manifold,fuel leaks,reset valves,regapped plugs,still the same.Put some more fuel in seems a lot better,Im wondering whether the fuel pump is weak,crap in tank or contaminated fuel.The original fuel was from Asda, new fuel Esso. Any ideas :?:

Could be crap in the tank. Try changing the fuel filter maybe?

Does the engine stumble as you accelerate away from a stop or as you apply the throttle after changing gear? If so that would point towards fuel starvation which could be caused by crap in the fuel lines or carb which in turn would cause a loss of power.

It was the fuel filter,didnt look that bad,Im going to change it every service in future.
