screen vent question

Ok, might seem a silly question but here goes. I noticed the other day that when I set the heat to the screen only the two centre vents blow hot. The outer two that direct heat to the corners of the screen blow cold, is that right or is something afoot?

My '71 is the same.

I presume it is meant to be like that...

It would be handy if they could be made to direct heat to the corners, would help speed the process up.

If you look at this page at vwheritage you will see why it blows cold.

The air to the outside ducts comes from the fresh air box.
