Hi I’ve been offered a short engine for a rebuild. What sort of money are they worth?
The build I’m going to do will have new heads etc.

I’m guessing two hundred ish, but depending on what you can know about it. Until you open the can of worms, who’ll really know. It is possible to not be able to use anything from from a core like this and unfortunately it is a bit of a gamble, however most can be rebuilt in fairness

Ozziedog. ,,,,,, I’d go this route over a Brazilian any day.

I’m looking at a 1776 just for a bit more pull and possibly tow a small caravan.
Do you know anyone that would build me an engine?
Regards Dan

If the engine you've been offered has no history, then you'd be better off stripping it and having the case checked for wear, then do a full rebuild.

I used to tow an Eriba and a Rapido with my bus when it ran a 1600 single port. Towed fine, just a little breathless on hills.
The only people I can personally recommend for non-stock engine builds are Hector Howe, or Graham at Rawspeed, but I'm sure there are other competent engine builders out there.

Hi do you have a contact for Hector Howe?
I believe that he is local to me. I just forgot about him.
