sliding door opens while driving.....

my sliding door has started opening whilst driving along, particularly over a really bumpy road

at first it was just when it was locked, but now it seems to do it when open too

luckkily i rarely drive with anyone in the back, but as you can no doubt imagine this isn't an ideal setup

what's going on?

is the strike plate worn or something?

Alright Baron - mine did that once but that was because I hadn't secured the door by moving the handle up when the door was shut. Saw John today after he put the van through MOT. It passed 2nd time round...he did a good job....

If you need to look at a door thats working I'm about on Sunday in Headingley.

2 Options you have, close it or travel with someone in the back so they can keep it closed

It may be the door has dropped on the slider and is forcing the way it sits out of place. What condition are the plastic sliding blocks like? these will need replacing if to worn and that may realign the door so it doesnt open :wink:

My westy when it was on the recovery truck the sliding door kept coming open.It was the front door catch was partially seized and needed freeing off and lubing.

hmm, I'm not that much the wiser!

and the shut line is perfect at the moment, so don;t wanna go messing if i don't have to

maybe time to see the friendly vw mechanic ; )
