Hi
Im in the process of stripping the carb down to clean it.
Question is,does No14 on this diagram just unscrew. It will unscrew 2-3 turns then it goes tight :|

Im thinking screw it in and out-in and out untill it frees up but I dont want to bugger it up

That will work fine on screw or fastings like that, put some wd-40 on it just to help loosen it abit quicker

Yes I thought so my self but the other thing throwing me ,was in the float chamber side of the carb.
There is two pressings on the cast tube( like holes that have been fill'd)
where this jet no14 fits into.Thought it may have been some kind of tamper
proof thing :? .its all good now though.
All clean/ish and fitted back on,set it up 2 turns here 2 1/2 turn there  and
he now ticks over :D .Then it died :( needs further investigation :)

I found this with stripping carb some times the need washing through a few times to get all the gummed on deposits out of the drillings.

One thing I found that helped was to soak the carb body over night. I used a zip lock bag and loads of carb cleaner. Following day used a compressor to blow the drilling through. Dont soak any rubber part. Also take out the accelerator jet and blow through in reverse, this jet need a sharp tap to get it to seat, I use the edge of a flat blade screw driver against the flange when refitting. (item 2 on diagram).

I would guess from what you have said that you still have some gunge in the idle circuit, or a stuck or blocked float chamber valve, one other thing have you checked the fuel pump stroke is set correctly?

 Sure did, pilot jet and injection pipe block'd back up again.gave it another blast over/out with the carb cleaner re adjusted it and all's good :D

proberly just needs abit of a tune-up now you've cleaned the crap out of the carb, i assume the carb was set-up to compensate for the sh*t inside

Yes I had to re adjust the carb again as i'd removed all the jets to clean/check them.Think the tickover could be a tad high, just playing by ear though as I haven't got a rev counter fitted.Could do with tune-up as you say but its not that far out and revs realy smooth :D .....Dave
