I think, although I could be wrong, you can get adhesive printing paper from Staples or the like - maybe even clear. Anyway, I took a picture of my speedo face while I had the dash out:

Then with a bit of photoshopping trimmed it and inverted the colours so it can be printed as a clear overlay on the glass of your KPH speedo:

Alternatively if you wanted to stick the overlay to the speedo itself in OG colours, then try this:

I am of course presuming that as the wheels turn as the same speed whether measured in KPH or MPH the needle moves round the speedo face at the same rate, and as such this method is fine, however it doesn't change the fact that the Odometer measures in Km.

Has anyone got a KPH speedo out of their dash at the minute? If so could you send/post a picture of it as straight as possible so I can print an overlay for mine? Cheers ears

Cheers Benyon
That's a neat solution!

Benyon,
Sorry mate I just spent 20 mins trying to take a non blurry pic of the speedo!
I need a tripod or even a better camera to match you pics.
How did you do it!
If I take these to a photo print place do you think they could make up the overlay?
great work
paul

Right pictures sent to benyon.
I took Benyons MPH speedo dial photo on my memory stick to 2 places this afternoon to see if they could make me up a dial overlay-i was quoted £200 and £185.
This is a bit more than I was prepared to pay for my speedo with trip project ,so,I am back on here asking what the best way to get one done is.
It needs to be able to stand up to the rigours of being in a van-cold in winter and hot in summer and full of condensation when I sleep in it!!
nb I don't have photoshop..

Speak to Uber cool, he should be able to sort you out just done me a rear screen print...very helpful....

I think we would be able to do this. I'd redo the artwork , so it would be a crisp scaled image, not just a photo picture. Would be able to either make this as an overlay to go on the glass, or go directly on the speedo. Would be avalible in many colours. Might be better just on the glass, so you can see both MPH and KPH at the same time. Working on the assumption you will do a certain mileage to get to a ferry port etc.

I have a speedo on the bench at home and a few bits of glass etc and surrounds etc. I'll have a go this weekend and post pics by Sunday night.

It certainly wont cost what you have been quoted! A fraction of that. If enough interest I put them on our website as a stock item in MPH and KPH.

I've got a couple of MPH speedoes in the shed. If any body wants the face plates I can post em over to you. The entire speedo will cost a ransome, but the plate flying solo won't cost much.
The needle must be in the same spot for 100km/h as 60 mph.
The MPH ones are out of date here, we have been metric since 1977.
