That was the last time Spliffy moved, been sat on mums drive since then. Tried to start him and the battery worked, no joy though as the fuel might have gone bad. Not had chance to try again as when I have time its been wet or I have been crock. I did have a hand pump to syphon the fuel but buggered if I can find it and battery not taking a charge?

Maybe you’ve left that battery flat a once or twice too many times. They really don’t like being totally discharged especially for a long while, as you already know. I’d try a capful of fresh down the carb just as a little encouragement to get him flowing and firing up, once he’s fired he’ll run even on shit fuel but even petrol is loads of money nowadays.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,, Got a battery anything else for an hour ? :)

I put jump leads from my car and it turned over okay with a bit more wizz, have to get a good day on it.

Sounds familiar.

Bus wouldn’t start with my pricey-ass gel battery.

With jump leads it started and ran fine. Charged fine. Ran it for about 45 minutes. Should have been plenty. Then, it would crank, but not start. Rinse, repeat. Frustration.

Finally put a load test on it. 10 volts.
Replaced it with a new, normal, lead-acid battery. Problem solved.

Yes its been sat 2 years disconnected and not charged but the engine turned over fine!!

Well after a lot of pissing about we managed to get Splif onto my mates trailer and down my unit, then we loaded my Austin and took that back to my mums garage where it only just went in. 60s size garage so tiny!
Now I can get Splif ready for sale, few bits of paint to rectify and get the motor started then up for sale to fund the Austin hot rod and my new project car . Whats a sound panel worth now £14k?

Found some of the problems with the paint was from the 2K lifting and cracking letting water get under. Heat from that heat wave we had caused the one panel to flex and crack the skim of filler, ground it all out and used reinforced filler. DA the rough bits down and it now has a skim of fine, hope to get it sorted tomorrow.

Painted it last week, first coat was a bit thick so added some thinners to the gun. Gave it a good stir and next coat was fine, waited 10 mins and stuck on some more. Disaster!! runs like curtains, I think the thinners separated out so when I got to the dregs in the gun it was very thin. Took till today to harden enough to flat out, 360 freecut did the job. rear panel will polish up but had to give the front panel some more paint. made sure it was mixed this time!!! It will have a few days to set before I get to go to the unit again. Will have some fuel by then ,if the battery charges okay I might get her fired up--------

Came over CBA this morning, well its dull, damp and cold! Waiting to see if battery any good ,had to borrow a charger as mine looks like its faulty as only showing 12V .
Big news is I have listed in for sale section.
