I'm gonna treat the Gütterßnipe to a set of USA style number plates from States Plates.

Only thing I'm not sure of is wether to leave a "Space" between ABC and 123J
Or keep the whole lot together like ABC123J, I've got a set of original surrounds to tart the plates up a bit so no scripting above or below, I know it's a shade dodgy with the law but
What the hell, you only live once.

If anyone can post some pics up and give me their opinions it would be great!

Cheers

Spence

Wow!

Looks the dogs.......I think I'm too scared to run those original colours...
Also did you get them from "States Plates"?.......as the configuration looks better than their Plate Wizard online ........Also is your font the original 70mm high US style??

The spacing works great....have you had much trouble with the boys in blue or do you only use these as show plates.....lovely looking Westy btw.

They were from craigplates, of course I don't run them on our Queens highway as that would be illegal,

i ran black/yellows on my split for years without problem, yes they are illegal but so what! :) they look cool, I always carried crappy modern plastic uk ones with just incase but I never needed them, any time I see a copper they were just chatting about the van!...

these arnt from states plates tho, I cant remember where but there were expenxive! as I wanted them as authentic as possible, the company I got them from had the old presses from the states ;)

I distressed them to go with the van

Apparently if you have an imported vehicle with numberplate surrounds originally fitted then you can have the numberplates that fit into the mounts/surrounds!

I checked this with my mot man (oldskool) and he got it up on computer and even offered to print it out for me 8) to show the boys in blue
Trouble is they dont know the law half the time

This is as much as i have been told on the subject, worth looking into bit further and i should think you would have to run age related colours tho, ie. black/white

yes that's right, its to do with imported cars... if the area where your plate is to be mounted isn't sufficient for a regular uk plate you are allowed to use a smaller one with smaller font!...

i'll be running them again on my 69 when its on the road.. black/yellows again. on the og mounts that are still there :)

8) news there!!!
I ran small plates in proper US surrounds on my splitty, but I only mot'd it once, prior to registering it!!

I got mine from Craigsplates, I didn't get any year numbers or the state put on it, just went for plain black and silver but in Yankee style with an original surround, this way at a glance they don't look too 'illegal'

The front is self adhesive letters and numbers stuck straight on the bumper

I run US plates, used to get hassled all the time but I was persistent and now the rozzers don't seem to care. Gone 1 step worse now and only run a rear plate :msn4:

Never had any hassle with my plates. Were on the bus when I bought it, so not sure who made them. Front and rear are the same style. Black background, white lettering.
