In a nutshell, its knackered, worn and dropped, could do with replacement really but looks pretty tricky, any pointers for this on where to get replacement bits, and how to remove damn thing, cheers for now Dave..
Hi Dave
Removing the tailgate hinge screws is always difficult. I do lots of them and never bother to unscrew them because the heads are very soft and they round off. Instead I just drill the screws exactly in the center with a sharp 2.5mm drill (good quality!) followed by a 4.8mm drill. This just leaves the thread in the hole. You can then clear this using a 6mm tap. If you can find some left handed drill bits it makes things much easier as a 4.5mm drill will often just unscrew the loosened thread.
This might seem a bit fiddly but believe me it is MUCH quicker than messing around with knackered screws.
I just drill out the old hinge pins and fit new 5mm X 50mm stainless steel roll pins - takes about 5 minutes and saves about £10 pm me if you'd like some roll pins.
