I've seen people use roof flashing but no idea how well it works,

I insulated the whole of my wife beetle with roof flashing....works excellent and cheap as chip 8) 8)

I take it these are the boards which fit in the ceiling of the engine bay??
I used builders foam i.e. celotex/kingspan which is rigid and backed both sides with foil and fire resistant.
I cut it to shape, pushed it in then used perforated aluminum sheeting cut and fitted to box section and then mounted the FIRETEC SYSTEM to that.

Just the job.I can take some pics if you like.

Just reread the post before submmitting and there's alot of I's in there.

I  believe the term is WE

Bare with me fellas,i did the job about 2 1/2 yrs ago so i'll have a look for the pics.
Failing that i can take some pics of the finished job showing the Ally plate and Firetec in place if that helps??

Not sure if you can make it out, feel free to shout out any questions fella's

The pics show running 34 ict's but i have gone back to stock.
As for the thickness of insulation i believe it is 25 mm,the tabs which held the tar boards in work a treat.
I marked out each section from the old boards and cut with a sharp STANLEY then i tape'd the edges with matching grey gaffer tape to stop any bits or debris from blowing around.
Then bent the tabs over carefully to pinch the new boards in place then cut the ally sheet (only covered the central main area because you struggle to get it in in one piece, thought it would look crap in bits, also it would of interferred with split charge relay).
Fixed the sheet in place and fed ties in to hold Firetec hose in place.

Hope this helps.

Nice install. ;) When fitted did you notice much reduction of engine noise inside the van when driving ?

looks well neat :D marcher do you know by any chance how much flashing tape needed to do the floor and the inside of doors ect and the cheapest place to buy it, i looked at the noise killer stand at volksworld  his kit must have some gold in .
