Both cab door seals finished. Tailgate done. Engine bay done.
However I forgot to take pictures before I shut the doors and don't want to open them again until tomorrow as I've glued bits down.

Seals were Vewib from Alan Schofields (the grey ones) and they fit very well and doors shut with a bit of a slam, but nice and flush. Quite impressed really.
Just sliding door to do.

Look what turned up.
They look lovely, but spot the mistake.

States Plates are sending me out new plates with the correct date on, kudos to them!
Opened my cab door today and there was an inch of water on the cab floor and underneath my chair was sopping wet. Having just replaced the door seal I wasn't happy so got the hose pipe out to find the source of the water. When rinsing it the water just came pouring in through the bottom of the door card.

Clearly the plastic membrane behind the door card has perished, took the door card off to confirm:

Not only had the membrane perished but inside the door there was loads of mud and gunk so gave it all a blast with the hose pipe. Looking like new:

Removed the under chair rubber mat and foam as it was soaked and cracked revealing:

Fortunately no serious damage:

Going to strip and clean the passenger side door tomorrow then start collecting things to put it all back together.

Job list is growing!

Installed the sliding door seal

Bit of pop out but closes really nicely.

Took the under seat mat off the passenger side ready for carpeting.

Big plans in the next few weeks, ordering VS exhaust + carb linkage kit on Friday so hoping to fit the twin carbs next weekend.
Then onto the interior, new carpet for the cab area, new door cards (still making my mind up on the design/colour) new kick panel and parcel shelf.
Exciting! :D

Nice van, similar to mine with lots of originality :)

my seat stand had some surface rust there as well, also needed to weld up the seat belt bolt hole due to rust. When you get the plastic membrane on that should stop that issue. Your cab floor looks pretty good though.

You may also find that the rear quarterlight will leak like a seive in the rain. :msn4:

Cheers Paul!

Thanks Mike and yes the quarter leaks somewhat, although not too bad. I had so many problems on my deluxe trying to fix those damn windows that when it comes round to sorting it I may just stick a full window in there.

I bought some curtain material and put the bus in the garage until I get a few parts this week ;)

States Plates kindly sent me a new set of plates with the correct date at no extra cost. Very impressed by that.

Cheers Paul. Love that westy and curtains look very cool. Hope my turn out like that.

Thought I'd update my own thread as I've got a few elsewhere, but it's nice to consolidate it all in one place.
This is currently how my engine looks:
IMG_1910.jpg

So Twin Dellorto 36 DRLA's in (sortof)
VS Exhaust in (sortof)
Alternator conversion in (sortof)

Took it to the rolling road a few weeks ago to be told that they couldn't do anything with it as it's only running on one half of the engine. 1/2 Cylinders aren't putting much out. They said could be valves, could be heads etc. £120 to tell me they can't do anything on it

Also decided on a similar setup to this for my gas tank/propex (albeit a little cleaner and less exposed):
rsz_1img_2233.jpg

Underslung LPG tank to power heating and cooking - cheaper than camping gas and easier to fill.
Propex mounted underneath - not sure whether to get the under mount propex or the normal one and just put it in a steel box.
Need the space saving benefits of underslung tank/propex for our travels.

Shame about your engine but hopefully it will be a simple fix!

Like the LPG tank but don't see the filler for it and also on a normally suspended bus it should be OK but still, I think I would be a bit nervous of having it there like that if you know what I mean ;)

Cool,
Where did you get that Y piece for the heater outlet? I only had a single on mine so it blasts at my missus's ankles!
Would be nice to have another outlet .
