My bus 'Arnie' has fibreglass bumpers fitted by the previous owner and I have to say unless you look very carefully its hard to tell and as Ez says they seem to last quite well,

People can never tell unless they lean on them or look at the backs  Suttle mods rule 8)

I mean I have fibreglass bumpers, pick 2 bumpers up the next time yours are off.

Can I ask where from bud? :|

You can get them from http://www.nomorerustybits.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Very cheap and pre painted so they never have to be painted. Mine are years old from a company called bay splits! back in the day. The ones from no more rusty bits are very good quality and will last for ever. 8)

Cheers, interesting! I have just got all of the dents out of my current ones so I think I will get them powder-coated as the original plan, but I need replacement side-step parts and they look spot on. You can't tell yours aren't metal. 8)

Sorry to hi-jack, but where did you get the rubbers for the top of the steps from - or were they some okay second-hand ones?

You've finally seen the light and are going grey.
Nice looking bus easy. :D

Cheers Sparkywig ;)

The rubbers were new from heritage i think

Looking nice!

How is the ride with the coilovers and dropped spindles comparing to your old set up with the standard spindles?

I have the same setup (Transporterhaus dropped spindles + same front beam) and am going to fit those coilovers this week...

I can honestly say, with the coil overs its the best ride my van has had since its been lowered! no bouncing or wallowing around, pleasurable driving for sure 8)

Hi, your bus looks very low...

One question to ask, what is the position of your beam adjusters? did you you lower some more with these? (I had to put them in to position to raise the bus as much as possible otherwise it rubbed the fenders...)

I will get a pic for you of their postion. I pre loaded them before adjusting so that I got a perfect travel rate. I will need to do a cheeky tub of the arches tho as they do rub a small amount when cornering under full load. 8)

Tubbing has begun!! only really need shallow tubs to remove the rub, so here is some sneeky pics for now.

Rubbage.

looking good, I'm guessing the seat will be in the factory position?

nice 8)
It will be dood, fitted into the original seem to make it seem like it should have always been there. Any mod I go for is to stick with the great vw design and become part of an improving design. 8)

Nice one Easy,

I have a very similar set up (T2D Dropped spindles, narrow adjustable beam and coil overs) - My Coil overs were fitted by T2D the other way round to yours - Did you swop yours over? Does it make a difference ?

Hey dude, i run them upside down, as with my set up they would hit the chassis the right way up. So instead of change the spindles and piss about i just run them upside down and they work like a charm 8)

Tubbing..........done!

As i said, its only a suttle tubbing so as I dont have to start messing around with raising the seats etc, and as I am a tall ******, it would be a bit of a tight fit. Anyway, here is some piccies. Drove it for a couple of hours last night and no matter what i did, I couldnt get it to rub atall, so it works! lovely mod imo and massive thanks to Chris @ Allimax 8)

Making the tub (its gives me an extra 20mm of clearance in the arch)

Then its zinc primer the bad boys, stone chip underneath and then a good coat of shwartz, a top coat in the cab and they are good to go.

Everything is all back in now and you would never know they were there as its as stock as you can get, the seats havent been effected or any compromises made. So its rub free lowered running! huzza! huzza! 8)

Thanks Chaps :D Looking forward to a fully loaded, slammed summer now
