Being a newbie to the whole VW and Earlybay scene I thought I'd try myself with this, the scratch and sniff westy. Named by this fine American scratch and sniff air fresher found under the front seat.
This is my 71 Texas westfalia. Bought from Graham at midland Earlybay. Great guy and a great deal!
Why the Americans decide to paint them these colours is beyond me but I'm hoping the original paint will have been protected.
The original paint is Chianti red and I'm really hoping il able to get the great colour back!
After being highly impatient as I'm always known for I received the westy on 26th march. Instantly started the work and ordering parts! Whilst waiting for it to be delivered I managed to order some original side windows, window seal and a sliding door mechanism.
27th march
Finally being about to get it in the workshop I removed the pop top
With the little rot on the bay and the few hours spent on it after work with my good friend Austin, we managed to get the front seats out and start to tidy up the welding places on the front and remove the ridiculous bar that had been welded on.
Pulled the tatty door cards off in the process
Awesome retro shift light on the dash is a must keep
Found this on the window, quite cool.
