give up your life over the bank holiday by living in the garage, spend way to much time cutting, measuring and welding and you get this

so there you have it, LHD to RHD in 2 easy steps

i will never ever do it again as there isnt enough money in the world to tempt me, its a heck of a big job but it felt worth it when i drove the beastie in its new RHD configuration

the things we do!

That is quite impressive,on the first look I could not see a difference!
I take my hat off to you sir.
How much to do mine?

you havent got enough money sir
seriously with removing the donor sections, the cuting of the chassis etc, relocating brake pipes, clutch and throttle, wiring, repairing the floor etc there is about 60 odd hours work

60 hours work @ minimum wage, thats about £300 give or take, bargain

the hardest part is finding a RHD earlybay donor, i had to use a late model which made it a little harder

Thats good work dude,I suppose the relocation of the brake and clutch pivot bar was the most awkward bit, well done.

you need to remove and replace the chassis where the brake pivot is, use a RHD crossmember section for the clutch pivot, relocate clutch and acc cable conduits, brake pipes and brake res and pipework. cut new mounts for RHD steering box etc etc

however i saw green and white 2005 bay at the volksworld show today that has had a LHD to RHD conversion and to say i was shocked is an understatement. the guy who did it need sorting out as he has used all the LHD bit and bodged them onto the right hand side, apparently the steering box has already broken away from the chassis leg once and when i looked it is pigeon sh*t welded to the frame, also the clutch pedal is about 10 inches from where it should be! the owner paid for this to be done to his van!
the worrying thing is the guy has another 5 lined up
jeez

There was someone else at the show who's had a dodgy RHD conversion done, maybe it's quite a common thing then? You would hope that the MOT would catch them out, maybe they MOT them then do the conversion? It's worrying that people could be driving around for a year with there steering about to lose control

Maybe your post could be made a sticky so people can spot one thats been done properly?

thing is the conversion i saw was on a 2005 model so it hasnt been for a MOT yet! steering boxes shouldnt ever break away from the chassis

quality work as always chap  keep up that good work and keep that beard growing! 8)
