Hi All..............

my bus is in the garage having a new crank case, whilst in bits on the bench i thought about the tatty tin-ware....
dose anyone kno where to get it chromed an what sort of money we'd be lookin at ???? Cheers....

I wouldn't waste your money as this would be very expensive.

Also not a fan of chrome engine parts as a very dated for me.

Can't beat nice black powder coated.

My mate threatned he'd burn my bus out if I put chrome tinware in the engine bay!

Not that i would but i do agree it looks abit ott!

Its matt black for a reason!
Chrome tinwear reflects the heat.

So not only does it look daft, it makes you engine overheat as well.

The tinware in my bay is powdercoated gold, and is quite shiny :D

Personally, I reckon the main stigma with chromed tinware is not the tinware reflecting the heat, but that the chrome tinware you can buy being such poor quality, not having the flaps in the fanhousings and so on. I reckon this sorta thing makes more difference than the colour.

Hence, in my van, I have every piece of tinware present and correct ;)

It's never let me down yet.

Having said all the above... I'd not have bothered having the tin powdercoated myself. If it hadn't been powdercoated by the previous owner, I would have painted it all black with POR15 or similar to give a good finish.
