Hi All,
I'm after some ideas to replace the tinware on the bottom of the engine of the bus. The bottom tinware is missing at the moment, the pieces came with the van when I bought it last year and I had a look at fitting them when I had the engine out over winter, but the fixings have been broken off the engine sump. Has anyone had the same problem and solved it? What were your results?
Any help appreciated
Cheers
Mark

Hiya Tod,

Are you referring to these tabs?..............

If so...............If you have enough material left in that tab it might be possible to tap another hole. Although I'd be really careful about doing that. Again, depending on how much material you have it might be possible to rig up a nut and bolt capture for the tin.

Hi Mark

I think your only options are to either get the tabs welded back on to the case or built up with weld and re tapped, or another engine case, unless you can find anywhere to hang a home made bracket off the case to give you a fixing point.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the ideas, Bookwus, thats just what i'm looking at, only mine doesn't look like that ;) I hadn't really thought too much about other options, just having a see if anyone has had the same problem. I'll have to have a look what is left, but from memory there is not much, so I'll probably have to improvise a bracket somehow. Anybody used that stuff that is like putty but sets like metal? - don't know if this stuff would work in this environment...
Cheers
Mark
