Just finished fitting my horseshoe plates and I am shocked as too how low it has dropped the back.

It went from this.....

To this!

With about an inch or twos clearance with the exhaust.

Can't even get it off the drive now without the exhaust scrapping on the road. Didn't realise that the plates would drop it so low. Looks like its dragging its arse now. Going to have to try a different route as primary use is camping and intend to use a trailer this year.

How much difference would removing plates and dropping a spline make?

From my understanding the horseshoe plates are designed to lower the rear of the bus 3.5" from stock height and then you can lower a spline or 2 if you want to go lower. You seem to have already been down a spline or 2 to begin with. Why not wind it back up and leave the plates on?

 Bloody hell, I've got them, don't think a 3.5" drop on the back is a good idea if I'm planning on towing the eriba about the place!!!

I would say the back is down a spline already and the front is lowered too.
Raise a spline or remove the horse shoes if too low.
I've horseshoes and one outer spline drop on the back and that's how mine sits.
Sittin nice in the before pic, what made you want to lower it more?

TBH it does not look very low and if you have standard exhaust on it I cant see any problems, just move the tail pipe up a bit. You might also find that dropping the front a touch raises the back up a bit. :)

Yeah, should have said - I have adjusters on the front so wanted to drop the back a bit just to level it all out, as it was sittin nose down and didn't look quite right.

I am pretty sure that its not down a spline already at the back as it all looks like its not been touched in 40 odd years. Maybe the back was sagging a bit. It's is actually lower than the pics show.

Even if the splines are in original position, can I turn the splines the opposite way to increase the height? Will this still affect ride quality a bit as would if you lower one turn?

Either way and with exhaust mods, don't think I could cope with it so low for camping, so need to look at options.

Cheers Ross.

Looks good to me. I would leave the plates on because they will keep the camber more neutral in the back. As previously mentioned the tailpipe looks to sit a bit low. If you want to go up a bit why don't you go up 2 inner spines and down 2 outer and dial in the ride height that way.

Looks very cool to me. I would invest in getting an exhaust that is tucked up and out the way. As yours exhaust looks like it been lowered ;) :D

Drop your front ,use mine for camping everywhere no issues at all ,front drop will pick up your arse ,chill......
