Hope I get this right, it is my first time on the forum. I purchased a 1969 american early bay earlier this year off Sarah and many of you would have followed her great build. I am now looking to purchase some american style plates and would like to know how I can find out where the bus was first registered, I believe it was California and that the plate on the dash near the windscreen numbers will tell me if I know how to go about it. Can anyone help me please, I would be most grateful................. Alan S

if you have the m plate this will tell you via the m plate decoder site where the bus was 1st exported to, this is your best bet.

Welcome along :)
I think the plate on the dash is the Chassis number and wont tell you a lot other than vehicle details not vehicle history.

There's no easy way of finding out the dealership unless you've got any supporting paperwork. The m code plate will only show you what port in the US it went to and nothing else. The us title doc doesn't even list a dealer so a copy of that is no help either.

Sorry but it's not that easy unless you can track previous owners

Hi,

Welcome along to the forum, your in safe hands here! Post up Sara's build to remind us which bus you have, I have (and many others) have a M Code decoder in our signature below, maybe Sara had this on here build thread, look at some of her old posts, you may find it, if not, click on mine for example, it'll tell you lots of info, you can then import your data. Though if Sara has already done it, it may not let you import it twice, you may have to e mail the guy who runs the M Code decoder programme.
