Evening chaps,

We're new to the world of vw after the purchase of our 71' dormobile a few weeks ago, and still got the cheesy grin and looking out the window every time I walk past just to look at it sat there.

Anyhow, I was just wondering if there was any difference between the 1600 twin port engines.

EXPLAINED:
A previous owner has changed the engine in mine but haven't told the DVLA (which I'll do shortly) so I know what was in and obviously what is in. The engine on the v5c an AD code and the engine I now have is an AS code. From what I've researched, they're both TP but AD up to 73' and AS after. Is there differences other than a vague manufacture date? If not, why the change of code?

Unfortunately, very little history came with him, so my extensive researching head is also on. Just filled out a V888 to try and blag the names and addresses of all the previous owners to write too.

The differences are minor (such as the distributor for instance)

As far as the dvlc, insurance and the vehicles performance is concerned, there is no difference.

Thanks, I didn't think there would be much if I'm honest. The only reason for informing the DVLA is that the engine number is printed on the v5c which is now incorrect.
