Should be the control for the heater flap that directs hot air under the step through towards the back seatsCan anyone shed some light on what this knob does under the driver’s seat
Nobody I’ve asked seems to have any idea.
Thanks
Ah so it is heating related then, I thought it must be but couldn't find any info anywhere. Thanks for that. It’s push/pull - opens and closes flap underneath. Photo below shows joint (yellow represents where the hose goes)
Hopefully that makes sense

I’m glad you shared that picture. Ours is missing. It’s an M5 thread sticking out, doesn’t willingly move, but I wanted to know what actual VW knob version it should be. Looks like a black, early sixties type one, same shape as the ivory dash knobs on our 63 beetle if I am judging your photo correctly. Can anyone shed some light on what this knob does under the driver’s seat

thanksWasn't that information given in one of the two owner's-handbooks which normally accompany these vehicles. I still have both of mine for the 1973 VW Type 2, scans of which are posted in The Samba Literature Archive as follows:

Fair pointIf you have met Oz then you know he usually ends up under a seat-----------
It isn't for the ejection seat?
