Started the van today after last week refitting the Dyno.

Started fine, backed it out on driveway which is on a slope (engine bay downhill) after a couple of mins it cut out and struggled to start.
Fuel tank reads 1/4 full.
Eventually started so put it straight back in.
1hr later i had another go,put it on the drive and after doing what i wanted i tried to start it again but struggled.
16tp stock everything 34pict3 carb has been rebuilt last summer done about 500miles since.
Could it be fuel starvation?
Van starts ok in the garage, might be scared of the sun
Fuel cut off works, almost shows symptoms of flooding when I try to start it.
Scared if I venture off the drive it will breakdown
Any takers??

From where chief??
As in the post i rebuilt the carb last year and was running fine :|
Initial start up it is fine, mind i didn't leave it running whilst in the garage so i don't know if it would cut out. :?
Perhaps i might give it a go tomorrow and drive it about 30 miles with my AA card at the ready ;)

When mine says 1/4 full it's empty, so ignore the fuel gauge they can't be trusted !
Are you activating choke, ie ignition on ,press gas down , turn key till it starts ?
Anything below 1/2 tank and I'm paranoid it's running out

Evning.
Make sure the fuel cut off solenoid is connected to the right side of the coil. Permanent live side not pulsing side. Makes your engine cut out when the choke drops off. Been there, seen it, done it.

Mine was literally sucking in air every where, weird because it had run fine for week before. Ultimately there was play on the main throttle spindle and the brass had gone, had a mate come round and spray damp sta at it when it started to stall, and broom stayed running, I brought a new one off VW heritage

Check fuel solenoid, mine worked but was very weak, cut out while idling but fine when giving it some throttle.
