Bit of an update.
The previous owner did take the Bus for an MOT in hope to register it, but it failed on a few niggly things.
The most annoying of which was the excess play in the steering.
I bought the Bus in the knowledge that it would need a new centre steering pin and bushes in the ballpoint beam. This was annoying as once registered its all coming off to make way for a king and link beam!
Anyway so apon inspection, with my friend dutifully wiggling the wheel and muggins laying in a puddle under the Bus, the centre pin appears to be fine, freshly greased and minimum play
(Sorry for the poor photo)
Looking further forward revealed a nicely refurbished steering box, again no problems there...
Except glancing upwards confirmed the culprit... One single bolt that goes though the join between the column and the steering box, the nut was totally loose and I should've noticed before but was covered in Mr MOT mans yellow chalk! Doh!
So a hasty tighten of said 13mm nut and a good twat with a hammer to the retaining lip thingy and the steering was completely different... Why that MOT tester didn't just do the PO a favour and tickle it himself I do not know... Anyway a free fix is a good fix!
Next up was the various electrical gremlins
This mess on the passenger side rear light holder was the culprit...
And the state of the fuse box doesn't help...
So with a bit of jiggery pokery and wiggly fuckery we had...
Lights captain!
Ta da!
Boom!
