Now, I know that everyone is skint at the moment   were in a recession dont you know

So can some please tell me how "Vanfest" can justify then cost of the tickets for this years show :?: :?:

I know i (and others) went on about the cost of the tickets last year, but they got away with it because i didn't pay the extra to see the sh*t bands.

But now the cost of the tickets are p*ss taking

Please enlight me on the increase.

Because unless VZI chaps have it wrong they now want £35pp + £20 per van :x :x :x :x

Nice one, that post has just saved me £55 quid. Another year I won't be going to Vanfest!

i wont be going havent been for the last three i feel its lost it way , looking forward to the campout though if that goes ahead and getting back to the roots of the scene

chris

BVF's a bit cheaper at £30 for a weekend but thats still each and kids of school age go free

Are we talking Vanfest already ? I have not fully unpacked from last year
I hate price increases

Last time I went was '97...cant remember the price though but i do remember the Worzels

I'm afraid that many 'static' shows just don't do it for me as they can be very samey samey.......always falls on the Euro Finals at Santa Pod so i'm afraid Vanvest loses out.

We have not been for a few years and the last time we camped it was "Toyota-fest" as the camper had disgraced itself again and the brakes died the day before.

My view is that Vanfest is now the "tick in the box" that all new owners do, when they buy the vehicle they have always dreamed of, spend a fortune with all the "names" getting it restored, show it in Camper & Bus then flog it a year or two later. I can see what the organisers are doing, trying to get the entertainment there, but there lies the problem. Muse are not going to go there, unless tickets are jacked up a lot and if the entry price is cheap, you only get washed up has-beens or cover bands.

The other thing to factor is they know they can sell all their tickets, a bit like Manchester United, who can charge what they like because the stadium is always full. We will go to a couple this year, Bus Types and Camperjam are my favourites.

If muse were playing I'd definitely be there! We thought about going last year but the ticket price put us off, if it's gone up then we wont even consider it this year. Shame really as we had heard some good things about it but I'd rather put the money towards a festival, more expensive (and still increasing in price) but better value in my opinion

Has anyone got a source for this info? The website is still set for 2010 ... at home I have the booking forms for 2011, but I didn't look in any detail.

I thought that this year the prices were rising by £5, which is the first increase for some years, but there wouldnt be another optional entertainment charge.

I'll check later, but would be grateful if anyone can provide a source for the information in the meantime.

Lastly - I would expect to see price increases for a few events this year, VAT and things in general will most likely see some price increases.

Cheers.

Yes, it's true, £35 per person for the weekend and £20 per camping pitch.

I'm really disappointed with that. :(

Is that £20 for a guaranteed pitch cos I was dammed annoyed last year to book up a family camping space, turn up at 6 ish and find it totally full up had to crash on a club stand.
But then that was worse they had a size of a football pitch with only 2 vans on it.
Another club had the same size reserved for them and a few cars were parked on it.

dont you mean Norwich?

I'll be going with my new van and new partner.... neither have been to vanfest and as someone has said it really is a "tick the box" event... still bloody expensive tho :( :( .. will there be an EB camping area this year??...

Thats me out for van fest then, its a bit to much for me although i did go some years ago in my old late bay and had one of the best times ever.

I usually drive up for the day on. The Sunday I think it was only £10 for the day.

This does seem like a large increase and I wonder who they consulted to put the figures together. :(

However, it is one of my favourite shows due to the huge numbers, variety and quality traders. I definitely didn't see everything in 2010. You also had a choice whether you paid for the additional entertainment or not.

There are other shows that manage to create a brilliant atmosphere without the cost but people will vote with their feet if they aren't happy with the product. If Vanfest isn't your thing try one of the other brilliant shows like Camperjam, Dubs at the Castle, Bustypes etc

We had no plans to do vanfest this year and to be honest the price does seem abit OTT but it is 1 of the biggest shows on the calender so i guess they think they can charge whatever they like.
I dont get the £20 camping charge though surely this is included in the price of the tickets or have i read it wrong
